Breathing Freely

Adapted from a poem by Anacrata (Poesia Anarquista Libre)

They want us to be passive
They want us desperate
They want us all submissive
So they can dominate

I dreamed there were no borders
No guards, no fences, no teachers
No government, no bosses

They want us to be doped up
They want to destroy our pride
They want us to be hopeless
Their aim is to divide

No bureaucrats, no psychology
No I.D., no sociology
No escapism, no pharmacy

They want us drug-addicted
They want us all confused
They want us to be witless
So they can make the rules

But we will fly above them
High above the whips and chains
We shall breathe freely once again.
